MORE than 700 Airbus airline staff fell ill after eating the company’s Christmas dinner, French health authorities said.

Hundreds of workers were left vomiting and suffering from diarrhoea after the firm put on a gourmet dinner for 2,600 staff.

More than 700 staff who attended the dinner event showed “clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhoea”, the Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) health agency said.

According to The Guardian, the menu included foie gras, scallops, lobster and tournedos, followed by ice-cream logs and hazelnut and chocolate mousse at just £13 a head.

Airbus said only “around 100” were taken ill at the meal in western France last week.

The firm said it is co-operating with the ARS, according to the BBC, “to identify the cause of the illness and ensure this cannot happen again in the future”.

An investigation has been launched to find the source of the mass food poisoning.

Airbus is the largest aircraft maker in the world, and Airbus Atlantic is a subsidiary of the company.

Across five countries there are 15,000 people employed by the cooperation.

The Airbus group hires 134,000 people and offers products and services in the aircraft, helicopter, defence, space and security industries.

Earlier this year, outbreaks of Salmonella Senftenberg in France and Europe were thought to have been caused by “cherry-like tomatoes”.

An ECDPC spokesperson said: “The outbreak strain was detected in a mixed salad dish containing cherry tomatoes among green leaf vegetables prepared on August 17, 2022, in France.

A FLIGHT attendant has shared the three things you should never do on a plane.

So if you’re jetting away for Christmas, or are treating yourself to a trip abroad in the New Year, you’ll need to listen up and pay attention.

According to Miva, a flight attendant, “too many people still do these things” – so have you been making these gross mistakes?

It turns out that you should never go to the toilet on a plane when wearing just socks, or even worse barefoot, and after reading this, you won’t want to lean your head against the window ever again.

Posting on social media, Miva shared her travel advice, as she said: “Three things you should never do on a plane.”

She then revealed why you must never use deodorant or hairspray, as she claimed it “could trigger the smoke detector in the lavatory.”

As well as this, shared why you won’t want to rest your head against the window, as she claimed “they are very rarely cleaned.”

Finally, according to this airline worker, you won’t want to go to the lavatory with socks or barefoot, as according to her, “the water on the floor was not used for cleaning.”

So if you’ve got plans to get on a plane any time soon, you’ll need to make notes if you want to avoid germs and ensure that you don’t get on the workers’ nerves.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @mrsmiva, was shared just one day ago, but has quickly amassed a whopping 76,100 views.

But social media users were left with a variety of questions, which many took to the comments to express.

One person said: “Is the headrest any cleaner than the window though?”

Another added: “But how am I supposed to sleep?”

A third commented: “Who runs barefoot?”

Not only should you never do these things when on a plane, but a former flight attendant has also revealed the four things that travellers did that she and her colleagues couldn’t stand.

Earlier this year, Kat Kamalani, who worked as cabin crew for six years, shared her traveller ‘icks’, as she advised customers ‘don’t do this when travelling.’

Not only would Kat get grossed out, like Miva, when people would go to the toilet without their shoes or socks, but she also expressed: “When someone handed you a poopy diaper or a barf bag and you didn’t have a garbage can with you, and they expected you to grab it with their hands.”

Not only this, but she also explained that she couldn’t stand it when in turbulence or about to land the plane and people ring the call light button.

(CNN) — The three biggest legacy airlines in the United States say they are gearing up for a longer and larger stretch of Christmas holiday travel while aiming for a repeat of this past Thanksgiving, which saw few flight cancelations.

American Airlines, the country’s largest carrier, expects Friday, December 22, to be its busiest of a 19-day-long holiday travel period that begins Wednesday, December 20. In all, the airline plans to serve 12.7 million passengers.

“The 2023 holiday period is longer than previous years, reflecting the changing travel habits of our customers and school schedules in many of American’s hub markets,” the airline said.

The Federal Aviation Administration says holiday air traffic overall will peak on the Thursday before Christmas with the agency’s air traffic controllers handling 48,959 flights.

In a sign of how spread out winter holiday travel has become, Delta Air Lines spokesperson Morgan Durant told CNN that there is a “seven-way tie” for that carrier’s busiest days.

Delta is expecting to serve around 9 million people in total, including 600,000 customers each day on December 21 and 22 as well as from December 26 to 30.

Industry lobby group Airlines for America says that 2.8 million passengers will fly each day overall during the holiday rush, representing a 16% increase in the number of holiday fliers over 2022.

Airlines hire ahead of the holiday wave

“U.S. airlines have been working for months to accommodate unprecedented demand throughout the holiday season,” the group said in a statement, underscoring that airlines have been “hiring aggressively” and have adjusted flight schedules to match the shortage of air traffic controllers.

That appeared to pay off over Thanksgiving when very few flights were canceled, though the airlines also benefited from favorable weather.
